How do we assess the ICT when it is part of other subjects?
There are different levels at which the students should be working at for KS3, these are between level 3 and 7 and are neatly explained in this diagram:
So how do we measure what level they are working at?
There is an official online assessment test (from the UK's National Assessment Agency NAA) designed to be used flexibly by teachers to contribute to assessment for learning in ICT at any time during KS3.
Not another exam! - Assessment for learning is an important part of helping pupils to make progress. The KS3 ICT tasks are designed to help improve pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding by giving instant feedback that can be used to develop and target learning objectives more accurately. As this is formative, it will not count towards the final grade in the subject but will provide an indication of how well the student is learning.
